Title VIII: Nursing Workforce Development Programs

On March 1, 2013 the sequestration went into effect, cutting $1.2 trillion in both domestic and defense spending over the next nine years. This translates into $85 billion in cuts for the remainder of 2013.  While these cuts are far reaching, Medicare is subject to a lesser cut of only 2%, which will effect provider reimbursements.  The American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Nurses Association (ANA) released a report in September, 2012 which found up to 766,000 health care and related jobs could be lost by 2021 as a result of the cut in Medicare spending.
